General information:

  • Citizens of Sweden visiting Vietnam for up to 15 days are exempted from Vietnam visas if they meet the following conditions (please click here for the conditions).
  • Visitors who intend to stay in Vietnam for up to 15 days but do not possess return ticket, ticket to a third country, or who travel on open ticket need to apply for visa.
  • Visitors who intend to stay in Vietnam for more than 15 days need to apply for visa.
  • The Vietnam visa procedure usually takes about 2-3 days, but can be expedited upon request.
  • Visa application can be made in person or by mail.
  • If you wish to have the Viet nam visa sent back to you by courier (such as DHL, UPS or by other express delivery services), you need to order the service in advance and the service charge will be at your account.
  • You can download the Visa Application Form, or fill it out when making the application in person at the Chancery of the Embassy.

Tourist visa:

Visitors can apply for One/Single or Multiple entries Visa. Tourist visa is valid for up to one month and can be applied 6 months in advance.

Tourist visa usually takes 2 to 3 days to process (from the date the application arrives at the Embassy), but can be expedited if requested .

Applicants are requested to submit to the Consular Section of the Embassy the following documents :

  • The original and valid passport i.e the expiry date of the passport should be at least 1 months since the date of departure from Vietnam, and with vacant pages for visa stamp.
  • One application form properly filled in with 01 (one) recent passport-sized photos attached.
  • Copy of visa approval (if any)
  • Visa fee.
  • Return envelop.

Business visa:

Applicants are kindly requested to submit the following documents

  • Copy of visa approval provided by the Vietnamese counterparts/sponsors.
  • One application form properly filled in with 01 (one) recent passport-sized photos attached.
  • Original passport.
  • Visa fee.
  • Return envelop.
  • Applicant can personally or delegate to the third person/ agency to make the procedures and get visa.
  • It will take 02 or 03 days to secure a business visa since the above required documents arrive at the Embassy.

Vietnam Visa Issueing Procedure for Rumania Citizens

A. For Vietnam tourist visa (2 weeks validation, single entry):

1. 2 application forms and 2 photos (3×4) attached on these.

2. Hotel reservation or the invitation of the person/company from Vietnam.

3. Airplane ticket booking.

4. Passport valid at least 6 months

5. Bank account document with minimum USD 1,000

6. Copy of ID card

The visa will be issued after 1 week since all required procedures are fulfilled.

B. For other kind of visa to Vietnam (longer than 2 weeks or multiple entries):

1. 2 application forms and 2 photos (3×4) attached on these.

2. Hotel reservation or invitation of the partner from Vietnam.

3. Permission of the Vietnamese Immigration Department. The Embassy of Vietnam in Romania will issue the visa according to this permission.

4. Airplane ticket booking.

5. Passport valid at least 6 months

6. Bank aecount document with minimum USD 1,000

7. Copy of ID card

The visa will be issued after 1 week since all required procedures are fulfilled.

Note:

-          The applicants for the visa must present themselves at the Embassy.

-          The person from other countries who asks visa to Vietnam at the Embassy must be resident or have the working contract in Romania.

Vietnam Visa Requirements for Thailand Citizens

General information:
3.1. Visa to Vietnam is required for all visitors, except citizens of some countries for short stay (Thai, Laotian, Malaysian, Indonesian and Singaporean are exempted for up to 30 days; Philippino for up to 21 days; nationals of Japan, Republic of Korea, Norwegian, Finlander, Denish and Swedish are exempted for up to15 days. 3.2. Visitors can apply for Single or Multiple-entry, up to 1 month, up to 6 months or up to one year stay visas.
3.3. Applicant can personally or delegate to the third person/ agency to carry out the  procedures of visa application.
3.4. Following documents are requested to submit to the Embassy for all kinds of visa:

– a. The original PASSPORT with blank pages for visa stamp. The expiry date of the passport should not be earlier than 3 months since the date of departure from Vietnam.
– b. One completed application form.
– c. Two passport-size photographs: one is stapled or glued firmly to the application form.
– d. Approval from Immigration Authority or Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
– e. Vietnam visa fee (Visa fee should be paid in Thai Baht by cash; Holders of Diplomatic Passports and members of Diplomatic or Consular Missions who are going on their official missions are exempted from visa fees – this practice is subject to reciprocal treatments between Vietnam and concerned Countries; For update of fee information, please contact the Visa Section of the Embassy).
3.5. The application form is available at the Embassy or can be printed out in the forms folder.
3.6. It takes from 1 to 4 days to process a visa.

Vietnam visa requirements for Canadians

1. General Procedures:

Visa to Vietnam can be applied for by mail or in person at the Vietnam Embassy in Canada as early as six months prior to the date of entry. The applicant must submit the followings:

- His/her original Passport (which requires at least 01 month validity prior to the date of exit from Vietnam and/or 06 months to meet airlines’ requirements). In Urgent cases, a loose-leaf-visa can be requested,then a copy of passport (photo and personal detail pages) may be submitted instead of the original passport

- One completed application form for entry-exit visa to Vietnam (you can download the visa form from this Website click here for FORM WORD or you can click here for FORM PDF )

- One latest photo (4 x 6 cm or passport-sized; colour or black & white)

- Vietnam visa fee: Money Order or Certified cheque, payable to THE EMBASSY OF VIETNAM. Applicants applying together may submit combined payment in one money order or certified cheque

(Please remember to record/write down your return waybill number for future tracking reference). Applicants applying together may provide one envelope for visas to be returned to the same address.

2. Processing Time:

- The processing requires five (05) business days after the Embassy has received the specified documents.

- Expedited processing (for rush/emergency cases) requires two (02) business days after the Embassy has received the specified documents (additional fee required).

Vietnam visa requirements for US citizens

A visa to Vietnam can be applied for by mail or in person at the Embassy of Vietnam as early as six months prior to the date of travel. The applicant must submit:

1. Original PASSPORT (which requires at least 01 month validity prior the date of exit from Vietnam and/or 06 month validity to meet airlines’ requirements). In urgent cases, a loose-leaf-visa can be requested, then a copy of passport (photo and personal detail pages) may be submitted instead of the original passport.

2. Application form (PDF Form/Word Form)The form must be completed, signed and attached with 01 original photo (2x 2in) . In case of a loose-leaf-visa request, 01 additional photo must be stapled to the form. If the applicant has already got A visa approval, she/he may write the reference number on the top of the form. For anyone who comes to Vietnam for less than 3 months and does not have visa approval, just leave “visa approval number” blank and the Embassy will take care of it. Additional processing fees for visa approval may be required.

3. Vietnam visa fees must be in the form of MONEY ORDER, or CASHIER’S CHECK, or CERTIFIED CHECK payable to “THE EMBASSY OF VIETNAM.” Applicants applying together may submit combined payment in one money order or certified check. Fee for stamping visa can be checked at Consular Fee. Other current fees (such as visa approval arrangement fee, processing fee, shipping, handling and expedite services) may be checked at:

4. A prepaid return envelope, if the applicant requests the visa be returned by mail. Please use USPS – United States Postal Service (prepaid postage stamp envelope or return label bought online at www.usps.com) or prepaid return FedEx label (bought online at www.fedex.com – The Embassy does not accept credit card for FedEx mailing service). For your documents’ safety, the Embassy advices to use USPS Express Mail or FedEx with the tracking numbers. Applicants applying together may provide one envelope for visas to be returned to the same address. For international shipping, please pay in the form of money order payable to the Embassy of Vietnam.

Diplomatic and official visas will be granted GRATIS unless otherwise agreed upon between Vietnam and the applicant’s country. In addition to the documents specified in (I), the applicant must submit a note verbal or an official letter from the relevant agencies of the US Government, Embassies or Consulates accredited to the United States, and international organizations.

Processing Time: Five business days are required to process visa applications with approval. Expedited processing requires one to two business days after the Embassy has received the application (additional fee required).

Note: Please keep the tracking numbers of the envelopes to and from the Embassy. When the above deadlines have passed, use the tracking number to check with the mailing service first.

Please do not make telephone inquires on the status of your application (make sure that you keep your passport number for this request) until after the 3rd business day for an expedited case and the 7th business day for a regular case.

The Embassy will be closed on Saturday, Sunday, Vietnamese and US holidays 2010. Please take account of the observed holidays in planning for your visa application and travel. In addition, no mail can be delivered at the Embassy during weekends and holidays.

General Vietnam visa requirements for the UK

Application for an entry VISA to Vietnam can be made in person or by post to the Embassy of Vietnam. Application in person can be made by the applicant or any representative. Application by post must be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery.

Documents to be submitted are:

  1. Original PASSPORT whose validity must exceed that of the visa by at least one month.
  2. One completed APPLICATION FORM F. Forms can be retrieved online or distributed at the Embassy.
  3. One passport PHOTOGRAPH taken not more than one year ago, affixed to the application form. Both Vietnamese and British passport sizes are accepted
  4. Vietnam VISA FEE payment payable to the ‘EMBASSY OF VIETNAM’, all in British pounds sterling only.

-  For Application in person: payment can be made in CASH only.

-  For Application by post: payment should be in guaranteed cheque, postal order or bankers draft only. Your full name, passport number, contact address and telephone number must be provided at the back of the payment. Please DO NOT SEND CASH by post, the Embassy does not accept responsibility for any loss as a result of you sending cash.

-  Visa fees vary according to the type of visas and length of stay and are regularly adjusted. Please contact the Vietnam Embassy in the UK by email at consular@vietnamembassy.org.uk for relevant fee information.

  1. In case of application by post, passport and visa will be returned by post by Special Delivery. A self-addressed envelope (not stamped) and postal delivery service charge are required.
  2. The Embassy may request further supporting documents and will contact the applicant when necessary. Please do not send any unless contacted and explicitly requested to do so by the Embassy.
