1. What is “entry and exit form”?

Those clients who are approved to have visa at Vietnam airports through www.Vietnam-Visa.com will receive the “entry and exit form”. This form requires your information about your entry and exit Vietnam.

Normally, this form is done on checking in Vietnam airport. However, with an aim to save your time at Vietnam airport, we would like to send this form to customer beforehand to fill out and glue a passport-sized photo on it.

On the bottom of the ‘Application for Entry and Exit Vietnam’ form, it states that you should: “Please, fill in one form (attaching one latest photo, in 4 x 6 cm size, with a face straight forward) submit one form to the Vietnamese Immigration Checking point at Vietnamese airport.

Nha Trang Sea Festival kicks off

Nha Trang Sea Festival 2011 took off at the April 2 Square on June 11 with a colourful opening ceremony attended by leaders from Khanh Hoa and the neighbouring provinces, besides thousands of foreign and domestic visitors.

The festival opened with various cultural, art and sporting activities like music shows, a group wedding and a calligraphy showcase.

This year the festival features more than 60 cultural, art and sport activities including Cau Ngu ritual (fish worshipping), fireworks display, wine tasting, kite flying and lantern and carnival processions.

Highlights of the festival include sea and island fun activities, especially on the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelago islands, aimed at promoting tourism and calling for the protection of the sea and the country’s sovereignty of the region.

Le Xuan Than, vice chairman and head of the organizing committee, told Sai Gon Giai Phong that the festival will help build Nha Trang’s image as a cultural, friendly and hospitable city boasting of a beautiful landscape of blue sea, white sand and sunny weather.

He added that the festival will introduce the great potential of Khanh Hoa province for economic and tourism development and send a message for environmental protection to local and foreign visitors.

Question:

A foreigner established a joint venture with Vietnamese partners. Whether he/she has to apply for an employment license? What are criteria for a foreign employee to work in Vietnam? How long is an employment license valid?

Answer:

1. Criteria for foreigners to work in Vietnam

- 18 years old up;

- In good health;

- Being managers, CEOs or experts in charge of managing the enterprises with representative offices in Vietnam;

- No previous convictions on infringement against national security;

- Free from criminal proceedings or penalties under Vietnamese and foreign laws;

- Granted with employment licenses by Vietnam’s competent agencies.

2. Exemption of employment licenses

Under Decree 34/2008/NĐ-CP regulating the recruitment and management of foreigners working in Vietnam, all foreign laborers must acquire employment license to work in Vietnam, except for:

- Working for less than three months;

- Being members of liability-limited companies with two members and above;

- Being the owner of single-member liability-limited companies;

- Being members of the Board of Management of a joint stock company;

- Entering Vietnam to resolve emergency situations such as technically or technologically breakdowns which can negatively affect production or business and are not settled by Vietnamese and foreign experts in Vietnam.

3. Validity of an employment license

All foreigners who want to work in Vietnam must be granted an employment license, which can be valid for 36 months in maximum.

If the license is lost or damaged, the holder can apply for re-issuance.

Question: A Chinese national, named Fadeng, who is working in Hanoi, hopes to change his foreign driving license. What are the procedures to convert a foreign driving license in Vietnam?

All administrative procedures relating to the changes of foreign driving licenses such as sequence, dossiers, and time requirement are stipulated at the city’s database on administrative procedures.

The Department suggested Mr. Fadeng consult the database on administrative procedures on website http://www.sogtvt.hanoi.gov.vn.

The Chinese national will have to follow the procedure 30 to convert his foreign driving license at the first time.

An application dossier for changing a foreign driving license includes:

-   An application for changing driving license (form), confirmed by the organization/agency they are working for or the local authority where they are living;

-   A copy of driving license (presenting an original one for checking);

-   A copy of passport (number, validity, name, photo and visa page for their entry into Vietnam) and present the passport for checking;

-   An authorized translation of the foreign-granted driving license into Vietnamese;

-   03 color passport photos with size 3×4.

- Show your visa application form + your original passport + 2 passport-sized pictures (4*6cm) + pay some US dollars by cash (from US$50 upward) for visa stamping fee (paid by yourself at the Vietnam Embassy in Thailand (Bangkok) to get your visa code. Up to now, the credit card is not accepted.

- Need to have a blank page on your passport because the visa will be glued on it. If your passport now has no space (full) for the new stamp, you should contact/come to your Embassy in Bangkok for asking to renew your passport. Normally, it will take 5- 7 working days.

Don’t

- Forget to find and note Vietnam Embassy’s address before going.
- Lose your temper if you have to wait in a long queue as the Vietnam Embassy do receive a lot of Vietnam visa requests of tourists a day.
