Mount Fansipan has jumped up 12 places to 13th out of 77 candidates in online voting for the world’s seven natural wonders launched by NewOpen World.
Lao Cai Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism attributed it to a campaign launched in early October.
The province is preparing for a Fansipan-climbing competition in Sa Pa Town on November 14, and expects to attract 300 enthusiasts.
Fansipan, at 3,143m above sea level and dubbed “the Roof of Indochina,” is one of the few eco-tourism spots in Viet Nam, with 2,024 species of plants and 327 species of animals.
